Twenty years as the driving creative force behind several musical projects, has led to a sharply honed aesthetic sensibility. Tight on budgets, I've learned to do everything in-house. Album covers, merch, packaging, posters, websites, animations, videos, photos -- you name it, I've probably done it.
Tucker Jameson Design provides an opportunity to branch out and apply these skills to everything beyond music.
This project began when Foxtales came to me with the germ of an idea for his soon to be released song DawnChaser. The production on the tune echoed certain elements of early video game music and he wanted the artwork to reflect this. I worked closely with him to develop the concept into a fully fleshed out character and world that evoked vintage RPGs while borrowing from the musician's life in Austin, TX. The result proved to be quite potent and we expanded the scope of the project to include artworks for a series of songs culminating in the release of his EP, Shifting Planes.
Beyond the cover art, I created numerous short tie-in animations to coincide with the release campaign of each song. These animations were designed for social media platforms to promote, build excitement for and advertise the music.
Like ads, show posters often need multiple variations to accomodate a variety of physical and digital formats. The examples seen here were for an Instagram story, a Facebook event banner and an Instagram post to the grid.
This particular poster corresponded with the release of a new song for which I also did the cover art. Playing upon the long-standing tradition of using fruit on album covers, to create the central image, I experimented with photographing several types of berries atop surfaces of different colors.
